Automatically Sync Your BlackBerry, Google Calendars for Free

Google has posted a new application, Google Sync for BlackBerry, to allow you to synchronize your RIM BlackBerry and Google Calendars. What sets the search giant's solution apart from other similar software is the price—Google’s is free.

With Google Sync you can add or edit entries right on your BlackBerry or on your Google Calendar over the Web through your desktop. Both calendars stay synchronized however you access them.

So basically you are reading your Google calendar from within your BlackBerry's native calendar. The real advantage of this, aside from the synchronization feature, is you can easily access your Google calendar when you don't have wireless coverage; because your Google calendar entries are available to you on your Blackberry even when you’re not connected to the Internet.

To get started with Google Sync on your BlackBerry, head over here and click on the Get started now >> button. Here you can enter your mobile phone number so Google can SMS you a link to the service, which is located at mobile.google.com. You can type this URL into your BlackBerry browser directly if you like instead as well, of course.

Google doesn't say anything about this, but we wouldn't be surprised if it releases a version of Google Sync for other smartphone platforms, such as Windows Mobile, the Palm OS, Symbian, or even the iPhone.
