Geodesic this week introduced version 4.0 of its instant messaging (IM) application for smartphones, Mundu IM. The standout feature in the new edition allows users to cross-conference with others across AIM, MSN, and Yahoo IM through a single chat window on a Palm OS handset (Treo) or Windows Mobile Smartphone (i.e T-Mobile Dash, Motorola Q, Samsung BlackJack, Cingular 3125, etc.). It also supports IM services through Google Talk and Jabber through a single interface.
With Mundu IM, users can also share photos and videos taken from their smartphone's across all these IM services, send files and music from their device to friends and colleagues, and receive e-mail notifications for their Yahoo, MSN and Google accounts while away from their desk.
“As Internet enabled smartphones emerge to be vital tools for today’s consumer, IM on mobile devices is becoming a standard mode of communication for consumers and professionals alike,” asserts Geodesic senior VP of Business Development. “Mundu recognizes that users are spread across different IM services and aims to unite them with a single interface across services, and mobile devices.”
Geodesic says it expects to add support for the Windows Mobile Pocket PC and Symbian S60 platforms in the near future. It sells for $11.00.
