Quality issues
I replaced my 3 yr old audiovox with this unit as it looked like exactly the same phone but modernized. The first one wouldn't stop connecting to the wireless network every 40 seconds even though it was set on manual connect. (drained batteries) The first replacement (recond) was D.O.A. and wouldn't even turn on. The 2nd replacement (also recond) won't sync to my PC even though it's the same PC that the first one worked fine with. I had heard that if you have a problem with 3 phones in a row Telus will let you do an equipment exchange for something else with no charge, (you must start a new contract). The person on the help desk did not want to admit this but I persisted and I will be taking delivery of my Blackberry tomorrow even though I would rather have a P4000 if it was more reliable. What is going to happen when these things get out of warranty?? Also note that this unit was purchased May 2008 with mobile 6.x factory installed so it should have been the latest (no kink) version.

Poor quality, poor exchange program
I have been a pocket pc user for 8 years. This is the best featured unit and also the worst quality unit I have ever had. There are hardware and software problems. I went through 4 units (2 new and 2 "refurbished" through the HTC exchange program). HTC was "refurbishing" by simply swapping broken units. I called Telus support and heard about units coming back with broken keyboards and screens. Mine had missing pieces and the plug didn't work, in addition to the endless freezing. Upgrading the WM 6.0 leads to random disabling of bluetooth. After my 4th crappy phone, and while they froze the exchange program, and after endless calls to Telus, they switched me to an HTC smartphone. The battery life was 2 hours, with no use. I hear the newer HTC P4000's aren't getting returned as often, but I can't seem to get a new one. I am getting the feeling that HTC produces very poor quality products.

great phone
I've owned this phone for many months now and it's been great, people who had problems with pda's don't know how to use them.. you know the os is made by microsoft if you never reset your device or kill running programs every now and then you will have problems like on every other windows OS based device. Great phone, if I didnt have it already i would buy it again.

great PDA, great email, crap phone
The sound is terrible- you can barely hear people, low ringing volume, if you are in a light wind, people can't hear you. while you are talking, the other person's voice cuts out sometimes. my first phone was defective, and they tell me that maybe they can fix the problems...but no guarantees. It's a shame because the other functions are great, but I use the device for the phone 80% of the time. So I guess it's hello blackberry...

Freezing
The reports on freezing appear to be correct. I got the phone last Thursday and it froze up today. I had to remove the battery. The problem may be related to the Telus mail setup because mail being sent to the account bounced while the device was frozen.I hate to return it because it seems to offer everything I want. I will wait to see how many times this occurs. One problem is that it appears to be merely in a sleep mode, but is not actually receiving anything. Even the off button does not work.

p4000 watch out!
Telus is having significant problems with this phone. I am on my third and am facing resistance the whole way. the phone is slower than my ppc6600.i have done the windows mobile 6 upgrade and there is a slight improvement in speed, but i have seen no improvement in reliability. research this phone thoroughly before spending your money. once you have agreed to a contract you are screwed, even if it has only been a day or two since you signed up...
