Palm's posted a software update for the version of the Treo 755p available from Sprint. It says the ROM update improves audio, stability, software quality and device usability.

To check if you need the update, press the Phone button on your Treo 7550, and then press Menu. From the Options menu, select Phone Info. If you see Software: Treo755p-1.04-SPNT (see below), then go ahead and upgrade.

According to Palm, the update process should take about 45 minutes.

Make sure all the data on your smartphone is backed up and your Treo is plugged into its AC charger before proceeding. You'll need to re-enter settings from some applications afterwards.

To download the Treo 755p ROM update, see here at the Palm Web site, where you'll also find detailed directions on how to perform the upgrade.

Remember, this is only for the Sprint version of this smartphone. Don't upgrade if yours is from another carrier, such as Alltel or Verizon, for example.
