As of November 1st, the free Windows Mobile 6.0 update for the AT&T Treo 750 will no longer be available. So, if you want the platform upgrade, you'd better download it soon. Treo 750s purchased after December 2007 are already running Windows Mobile 6.0, so the update does not apply to them.

The free upgrade, available here, brings increased functionality, an enhanced user interface and strengthened security and performance to the Treo 750, as well as 3.5G HSDPA cellular-wireless capabilities for faster data-download speeds (up to a max of 1.8Mbps) on UMTS/HSPDA networks like AT&T's.

It also provides access to several AT&T Multimedia services: AT&T Music, CV (Video), and AT&T Mall (shopping).

Enhancements brought to the Treo 750 with the Windows Mobile 6 upgrade also include HTML/Smart Filtering, SharePoint access, more robust Mobile Office applications, support for voice commands via Bluetooth, USB cable charging, and native support for Microsoft's Direct Push technology for better e-mail, search, calendar, contact and task connectivity with Microsoft Exchange Server 2007.

It also brings HTML-formatted email messages; the ability to set an out-of-office message from a Treo; as well as miniSD storage card encryption, password and PIN improvements, and remote data wipe.

Keep in mind, once you install this download on your device, you will not be able to revert back to Windows Mobile 5.0.

Windows Mobile 6 does not support the Blackberry Connect service. So do not install this update if you use this service on your Treo 750.

If you choose not to update AT&T Treo 750s, will continue to work and be supported under Windows Mobile 5. You'll be missing a lot of handy features, however.
