AT&T, Xora Roll Out Green GPS App

Xora, a provider of mobile resource management solutions, said this week it will provide its GPS TimeTrack In-Vehicle application through AT&T wireless service.

The location-tracking application allows companies to monitor engine idling and reduce fuel consumption. The companies also say the service will improve productivity and lower operational costs.

TimeTrack In-Vehicle works with smartphones via Xora's GPS TimeTrack handset edition, which you can download on various BlackBerry models and the Moto Q. It also works with a hard-mounted tracking unit.

According to Ananth Rani, Xora's senior vice president of products and services, the tracking app allows companies to focus more on customers rather than monitoring vehicle location in the field.

On Monday, AT&T also announced a partnership with TeleNav on its Vehicle Tracker device, which, like the Xora application, has a GPS modem allowing companies to track delivery trucks via a Web-management console.
