Google saysit will offer Street views of Google Maps on the Nokia Symbian/S60 and Windows Mobile smartphone platforms, which are popular in parts of Europe and Australia.

The search giant is shooting pictures of streets in France, Italy, Spain and Australia and aims to offer the service on phones popular in these areas.

Street-level views allow you to see actual views of your travel itinerary. So, the service, which is already available on the iPhone, BlackBerry and Android, can help you orient yourself when looking for places, businesses, or getting directions.

According to the Google Mobile Blog, the latest version of Google Maps for mobile also adds the ability to "request walking directions (in addition to driving and public transit) to get anywhere on foot, receive transit alerts from participating public transportation authorities, and see what other people think of a place by reading reviews directly on your phone."

Google's also overhauled the user interface to make Google Mobile more user friendly and responsive.
