At first we thought the call history on Verizon's SMT5800 and XV6800 Windows Mobile smartphones wasn't listing all of our calls, both incoming and outgoing. And then - so obvious we missed it - we realized the one call history incorporates both and distinguishes them, as well as missed calls, with different symbols.

Calls you've made from the device sport a green, right-pointing triangle next to them, while the incoming calls get tagged with a left-pointing orange triangle. If a call wasn't answered, it's flagged with a red exclamation point.

In our defense, after primarily making calls for several days, it was easy to gloss over the green triangles sitting next to the phone icon. But once we noticed the distinction, we felt more confident that we'd never lose another phone number.

The SMT5800, based on original design manufacturer HTC's Libra design, is a candy bar-shaped smartphone with numeric keypad on the front and a QWERTY thumb-keyboard that slides out the side. Because the SMT5800 is a Windows Mobile 6 Standard device, it - among other things - doesn't sport a touch screen.

As for the XV6800, it too is a slider with a keyboard. However, unlike the SMT5800, the XV6800 runs on the more capable Professional flavor of Windows Mobile 6, which gives it a touch screen and other more advanced features.
