By James Alan Miller
Astraware has updated the king of all falling gem games Bejweled 2, adding support for square-screen Windows Mobile Professional and Classic devices, such as Palm's 240 x 240 pixel Treos and Samsung's 320 x 320 resolution SGH-i780.
Version 1.30 is also the first edition compatible with Windows Mobile Standard smartphones, those without touch screens. It supports these devices, which includes smartphones like the HTC S710 and StrTrk, Samsung Blackjack & Blackjack II, and Motorola Q and Q9, with both 240 x 320 and 320 x 240 pixel displays.
Astraware says the game has been brought fully up-to-date on Astraware's current games framework and controls have been optimized for play with either a 5-way controller or stylus.
Introduced way back in 2004, Bejweled 2 is the sequel to what at the time was the biggest selling PDA game of all time. It maintains several features that addicted so many to the original (including yours truly), while adding a slew of others to mix things up a bit. With Bejeweled 2, you got four standard modes—classic, action, endless, and a puzzle mode—plus new graphics, background images, in game transitions, and special effects. In addition, players can unlock five special bonus modes as they progress through the standard modes. The 1.30 update is free to current users. Otherwise, Bejeweled 2 goes for $19.95 Related Links:
