Slimey business
Fine. If they don't want to cover cracked screen under warranty, that's fine. That's something you know up front. But Apple is gouging their customers in a hidden, sneeky way. Screens crack. Apple stores get many of them per day. The cost for them to repair the screen is almost negligible. They take advantage of this situation to gouge their customers, and god dammit, I just don't care to have that kind of business relationship with anyone. Capitalism is one thing, get everything you can get however you can get it. But I'll put my money in companies that are also interested in relationship. I don't want to be lookign over my shoulder constantly for the next time Apple decides to rape me because they can.

broken iphone screen
I dropped my iphone and broke the screen just 3 days after I bought it. I went to At&T store and they told me I have to pay another $300 for the phone. I went to Apple and told me the same thing. So two weeks later I went back to AT&T and I was told I have to pay $500 to replace the phone. I fought with AT&T customer service and got nowhere. I really think there is a flaw in the phone if so many people are breaking the screen so easily. And, Apple needs to rethink their policies.

i found a great place that will repair water damaged or any other type of damage to the iPhone
they work with AT&T and Apple with non warranty repairs
you can mail it in or if you are in the San Francisco Bay area they are up 101 north of the Golden Gatewww.northbayelectronics.com is the website i was in the bay area and just called and they fixed my phone the same day

Slippy when dry screen cracker
I had the exact problem my second iphone (first left in cab) first week i had it. It slips out of my hand on to the sidewalk and it has a mosaic finish that impedes performance. So it's $250 or $400 for my years of lyalty to apple. I am pissed and believe apple are getting sloppy and greedy.

Buy a car from any dealer and see if they will be "understanding" and pay for a new window if you knock it out accidently. LOL...You're really digging around at the bottom of the "article barrel" aren't you??....
