Eduardo Cachucho of South Africa, a 23 year old architecture student, has won the 2008 Nokia Mobile Filmmaking Awards with his mobile short film "The Game." He, along with over 600 others, submitted their entries through the Pangea Day Channel on Share on Ovi.

Nokia's Share on Ovi is a free media sharing service that allows users to upload, manage and share personal media through mobile, desktop and other connected devices.

Pangea Day was created by documentary filmmaker Jehane Noujaim.

"It was a huge surprise for me to win this awards. I couldn't believe it was me when the winner was announced at the broadcast," said Cachucho. "With my film, I wanted to tell the world that children are children everywhere, no matter where they live, what their race is, or whether they are rich or poor. Children are the same all over and want to have fun and play."

The 2008 Nokia Mobile Filmmaking Awards ran from March 19 to April 30. During that period, people could submit their short videos to ovi.com/pangeaday; where you can now watch Cachucho's winning entry as well as other submissions to 2008 Nokia Mobile Filmmaking Awards.

On May 6th, Nokia announced the five finalists in the 2008 Nokia Mobile Filmmaking Awards which were screened during the Pangea Day broadcast on May 10th. The finalists were flown to Los Angeles to attend one of the six live Pangea Day events on Saturday, May 10th.

The Pangea Day broadcast that day featured 24 short films along with internationally-known guest speakers and musicians, including Queen Noor of Jordan, Christiane Amanpour, Dave Stewart and Hypernova.

In addition to the trip to the Los Angeles event, the winner, Eduardo Cachucho, received a mobile filmmaking trip to the Rwandan Gorilla Reserve and a production budget to record his trip.
