Nokia just announced it'll distribute games from Konami as part of its revamped N-Gage gaming service.

N-Gage is no longer a taco-shaped standalone device, but is now the gaming section of Nokia's group of Ovi online services. Through it, users can try out, buy and download games, as well as access community services on supported smartphones.

Ovi means "door" in Finnish. Nokia wants Ovi to be a door to a variety of online applications. In addition to N-Gage, Ovi includes a music service, online maps, and other social networking services.

The mobile version of METAL GEAR SOLID, a tactical espionage action game, will be the first Konami title in the N-Gage games line-up. This edition of the game, developed with Ideaworks3D, features original content that can only be found on the mobile platform. There is, for example, never-before-seen 3D art displays and camera work.

And an in-game camouflage system uses color samples from the scenery of the real world captured by the handset's camera. Moreover, additional controls have been introduced that are made especially for mobile devices.
