ACCESS Posts NetFront Browser v3.5 for Windows Mobile

ACCESS has posted what it's calling a concept version for Windows Mobile, v3.5, of its popular NetFront Browser.

The company, the same behind the fledgling ALP (ACCESS Linux Platform) operating system for smartphones, last updated the version of its NetFront Web browser for a more established mobile platform, Windows Mobile, late last year.

The browser supports the latest standard markup languages: HTML, XHTML (eXtensible HyperText Markup Language), and WAP2.0 (WML1.3). It can also display pages to which CSS (Cascading Style Sheet), ECMAScript (JavaScript), DOM (Document Object Model), or DHTML (Dynamic HTML) have been applied.

Version 3.5 edition of NetFront is supposed to offer improved key operation, stylus pen functionality and overall usability. The browser also features improvements in speed, including first draw time, zooming speed and rendering mode selection.

The software's been tested with a Dell Axim X51v and Wilcom W-ZERO3.

Plug-ins are not supported and no technical support is available for this concept version of NetFront for Windows Mobile. Integrated Windows Authentication for IIS is also not supported

And, keep in mind, if no NetFront Browser is installed on external storage, the application’s behavior becomes unstable when the device is turned on or off, and the trial period for this software expires at the end of August.

You can download and learn a lot more about the Windows Mobile edition of NetFront here.

ACCESS encourages users to submit feedback on their experience with the browser.
