The 2009 edition of the 5-Minute Clinical Consult (5MCC), powered by Unbound Medicine, is now available for the Web access at www.5mcc.com and for download to PDA and smartphone.

5MCC is well known by healthcare providers for its concise, practical, and evidence-based recommendations for the diagnosis and management of more than 700 disorders that are seen daily in family practice and internal medicine.

The mobile 5MCC makes it easy for clinicians to carry the adult and pediatric disease information and dermatology images with them so answers to questions that arise in the course of the day are available at the point of need—at the bedside, at the office, or in between. Regular updates are made to disease and drug information on the web. New content is delivered automatically when a mobile user syncs the device.

The new site uses Unbound’s interface to facilitate what the company asserts is fast searching, index browsing, and cross-linking. Special features include a “Topic of the Week” RSS feed, a preview mode that allows site visitors to try out functionality before purchasing, and one-click searching on any disease topic in Unbound MEDLINE, an easy-to-use Internet gateway to over 17 million medical journals.

Bonus content at the site includes a complete drug guide, videos of medical procedures, 1000+ patient handouts in English and Spanish, more than 130 dermatologic images, and more than 200 pediatric topics selected from the latest edition of 5-Minute Pediatric Consult, also published by LWW.
