Many GPS devices, including many built into smartphones, offer a feature to search for gas prices near you. With $4-per-gallon gas a reality; this is a great time to figure out that feature of your unit.

If you're in a decent-sized city, here's a Web site alternative that serves basically the same purpose. www.gasbuddytogo.com. You can access it from your computer, but it's much more likely to come in handy on your smartphone.

Here's how GasBuddyToGo works: type in the city and state or zip code where you are and it pops back area gas prices.

While may not be comprehensive and it doesn't have as wide a network as some GPS systems we've tried, but it's still worth knowing about. You can also become a registered user and submit prices, which will help expand the database.

The parent site for the price-tracker is www.gasbuddy.com.
