Turn Your Smartphone into a Dictaphone

By Amy Mayer

If your work life involves constant dictation, then successfully using your smartphone in place of separate dictation hardware, and editing and sending your files directly from the phone, could save you time and energy. Well, Brainworks and ProMobile claim to offer just that for certain Nokia ESeries Symbian/S60-run handsets and RIM BlackBerry.

While you could e-mail files to interested colleagues, you can also send your recordings directly to digital dictation machines so they are immediately available to transcribers.

The simpler version of the software, ProMobile Light doesn't connect with all dictation systems, though recording on and e-mailing from your smartphone is possible. The more robust package, ProMobile Enterprise is compatible with Enterprise Express Voice and ProDictate.
