Rumors about a new much-anticipated T-Mobile Sidekick, whose official name remains a subject of speculation, include the possibility that users will be able to design their own skins. IntoMobile writes that a customization portal for the device may provide the means for owners to create their own shells.

Features of the software could include the ability to view, share, and rate skins made by other users. T-Mobile's official site doesn't yet offer any insight about the newest Sidekick or its skins. You can see the current Sidekick offerings here. Select kickART for existing fun stuff to be had.

Update: Rumor has it a new entry-level Sidekick, which is code-named Gekko, could see release as soon July 30. The actualy name, get this, may be Sidekick 2008. For more on this possibility, including details on specs, see here.
