Nokia E71 Now Widely Available in U.S.

Nokia's North American-friendly edition of its new E71 business smartphone is now widely available in the United States. Those lucky enough to attend private launch events - in Chicago and New York at the Nokia Flagship Stores - last week had been, until now, the only folks who get their hands on this device.

The Nokia E71, which at .39 inches thick, is the slimmest QWERTY device on the market, is now available to the general public through a variety of consumer electronics, wireless and online retailers, and - of course, still at the Nokia Flagship Stores. Since the E71 can't be had from a carrier directly and is therefore unsubsidized, you'll have to shell out $500 to get your hands on one.

Since the E71 is a quad-band GSM (850/900/1800/1900), HSDPA (850/1900) 3G smartphone, you can use it to make calls and access data almost anywhere in the world. So, of course, it is compatible with AT&T's 3G network. Simply pop your SIM card into the phone and you're ready to go.

The E71 is Nokia's follow up to the E61 and E62, which AT&T offered back in its Cingular days, the cell phone giant's first BlackBerry-like, tablet-style QWERTY smartphone. It integrates Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth 2.0 with support for wireless stereo headsets.

There's also a 320 x 240-pixel resolution QVGA display and runs on the Symbian OS and S60 platform.

Additional features include support for microSDH storage expansion cards and a 3.2 megapixel camera with, like many other Nokia devices, a Carl Zeiss lens.
