Verizon XV6800, AT&T Tilt Get Windows Mobile 6.1 Updates

After a fairly slow start, Windows Mobile 6.1 updates recently started to appear in droves, one after the other. The latest mobiles to join the free upgrade parade are a pair of high-end HTC-built models, the AT&T Tilt and Verizon's XV6800.

Windows Mobile 6.1 provides new timesaving features, easier phone navigation and management, stronger security safeguards, support for Microsoft System Center Mobile Device Manager 2008, and an improved Internet Explorer Mobile application, among other enhancements.

In addition to all the advantages of Microsoft's latest mobile-device platform, the upgrade for the Verizon smartphone also adds support for Verizon's VZNavigator application, the carrier's speedy EV-DO Rev. A 3G data network, and 16GB microSD cards. It updates the XV6800's MMS app and adds a threaded SMS client to the mix as well. You can download and learn more about the XV6800's platform upgrade here.

As for the AT&T Tilt Windows Mobile 6.1 update, it adds support for Video Share calling and MS Voice Command. It also enables you to reassign the functionality of the Tilt's push-to-talk button. A threaded SMS client is in the package as well. To learn what else comes in the Tilt's ROM upgrade and download it, see here.
