One of many badly kept secrets in the wireless industry is RIM's plan to introduce a touch-screen smartphone, the BlackBerry Storm. A model like the Storm will enable RIM to compete more directly with the iPhones and HTC Touches of the world. Over the last few days a pair of internal documents from the carrier leaked into the Internet rumor mill. Both sheets reveal and confirm a slew of details about the BlackBerry Storm.

Apparently, this smartphone is going to arrive sooner than later. And when it does, the lucky carrier to get this new bit of BlackBerry goodness from RIM will be Verizon Wireless.

The new BlackBerry will, indeed, offer the much rumored about high-resolution touch screen that give's feedback in the form of a physical sensation to - it is promised - make text input easier There will also be a 3.2 megpaixel camera for picture and video, EV-DO 3G wireless, visual voice mail, an improved HTML browser, and a whole lot more.

The first leaked sheet, see below, outlines talking points for Verizon employees regarding the new BlackBerry.

Then, today, the second sheet, this one going into even more details, appeared.

The above data sheet indicates the BlackBerry Storm may ship between September 22nd and October 1st. There are no guarantees, of course. And it nor anything else that’s crossed out way reveals anything in the way of pricing. We'll keep you posted.
