LG Blitz from Verizon, A Messenger for Kids

Just in time for the new school year, Verizon Wireless has a new smartphone aimed at "heavy texters" (is that a euphemism for teenagers?). The LG Blitz bills itself as good for messaging with its slide-out QWERTY keyboard and "My Messaging" quick key.

Its camera is only 1.3 megapixels, but the stereo Bluetooth capability makes it a good choice for music. Again with the teen demographic, right? Parents can employ the Chaperone option to track the phone's whereabouts and uses and many other Verizon services including V CAST and VZ Navigator are also available.

With a two-year contract you can get a Blitz for $49.99 after rebate if you purchase online. The Verizon Wireless web site has an entry for a pre-pay Blitz but the link doesn't seem to get you to what it promises. Seems like a natural fit for the device, though.

See here for more on the LG Blitz.
