The folks at Weight Watchers have just made it a little easier for members to stick with the program. Simply point your smartphone's browser mobile.weightwatchers.com to access the same weight loss planning and tracking tools available on the desktop from the hand.

Compatible with most BlackBerry and Windows Mobile 6 devices as well as the iPhone, Weight Watchers Mobile enable users to view a summary of daily points values used; calculate points values for foods or activities; search points values for favorite foods; and log activity or food points values.

"With so many people spending more time on the Internet and using mobile devices, Weight Watchers saw a need to launch a mobile site for subscribers' evolving lifestyles in order to provide them with information right at their fingertips," according to WeightWatchers.com president Michael Basone. "We also know that being engaged with Weight Watchers online tools and tracking can help lead to great success. Our mobile site now offers them that additional convenient option to further assist in achieving their weight loss goal."

Weight Watchers Mobile is free value-added service for members.

In related news, iambic's just released the latest version, 3.0, of its Health & Diet Manager ($19.95) application. The software is compatible with Windows Mobile and Palm OS devices as well as PCs.

Like the Weight Watchers tools, this application is supposed to help users track food intake, calorie consumption, and exercise. In fact, iambic positions Health & Diet Manager as a way for those on diet programs, including Weight Watchers, to track point balances and map points to meals.

The software comes with an extensive food database that includes menus from popular eateries (such as McDonalds, Burger King, Subway, etc.). This database is customizable and offers a straightforward way to add food items as well as whole meals, according to iamic.
