Alarms, Stopwatches, & Clocks, Oh My!

Sure, your phone lets you set alarms for certain days of the week, gives you a host of sounds to wake up to and even offers the option of having a clock visible in every screen view. But, let's face it, the clock and alarm features are often buried and cumbersome. Plus, with your smartphone doubling as your mp3 player, you may be toting it on your runs or sitting it up on the elliptical trainer while you work-out.

So, why not get all your lap-counting, stop-watching, alarm-ringing needs met-in any time zone—with one handy application. Gentimer from Rivia is a Windows Mobile application (free trial available, full price $14.95), with enhanced alarm features, a stopwatch with unlimited lap counting and several timer options.

For the alarms, consider the luxury of having a soft gentle sound begin a bit before the actual alarm, to ease you into waking. Not your style? For the snooze-button addicts, a special features requires you to type a randomly-generated code into your phone to silence it—no more stopping the racket with your eyes closed (downside: if fumbling with the phone doesn't wake you up, you'll roll over and be out again indefinitely).

The timer features include standard, loop and stopwatch mode. You can set up to five timers, to keep track of sequential events with breaks in between, for example.

With World Time View you can see the time in up to four cities simultaneously.
