Cogito Semantic Software Reaches the BlackBerry

By Brian T. Horowitz
January 26, 2009

Semantic intelligence software provider Expert System says BlackBerry users can now access its Cogito semantic platform on Research In Motion's ubiquitous handheld devices.

Using a natural language interface, the Cogito app simplifies the searching of data on a PDA or smartphones, whether it's a corporate intranet, a contract or everyday office-productivity files. Cogito's compatibility with BlackBerry Enterprise Server provides a secure server environment for enterprise users.

By making access to data located in unstructured databases more easily obtainable through Cogito, Expert System says it is providing BlackBerry users with a better way to get the information they need, when they need it.

According to Expert System VP Walter Kostiuk, 85 percent of the knowledge used for business decisions is found in these unstructured databases, so "anytime, anywhere access to those databases makes all the difference."

IDC predicts the number of worldwide mobile workers will reach 1 billion by the end of 2011. That'll include nearly 75 percent of the U.S. workforce.
