Companies are getting an increasing number of mobile tools to keep track of their workers in the field. U.S. Cellular will become the latest carrier to offer GearWorks' Etrace location-based mobile applications.

U.S. Cellular will make the service available in 26 states. Carriers such as Sprint and AT&T already offer the Etrace service on their networks.

Information the Etrace apps can send to mobile phones includes mobile job dispatching, remote time cards and payroll data.
