Quickoffice this week released Quickoffice Premier 6.0 for the Symbian S60 platform, the latest edition of its mobile office suite for managing Microsoft Office documents while on the move.

Significantly, version 6.0 of Quickoffice becomes the first editable Microsoft Office 2007-compatible suite for these types of (mostly Nokia) smartphones.

Users can also now view column and line charts in Microsoft Excel 2007 (with real-time recalculation), open zipped documents, and password protect files. And Quickoffice adds an enhanced file manager to allow users to more easily navigate and organize file types.

Some common desktop features are brought to the software for the first time with this release. These include word count in Word documents and 'go to cell' for worksheets, which promises to improve mobile navigation of large spreadsheets.

According to Quickoffice VP Gregg Fiddes, “These new features build on our goals of offering a seamless transition from the desktop to a mobile device, and we look forward to offering even more advanced features in the future.”
