The geotagging software Footprints, which will ship with the new HTC Touch Cruise later this year (and, one imagines, with future phones once the Cruise proves its mettle), puts together in one package all that's required to allow users to easily document where they are and see they've been.

Launch Footprints and you can then snap a picture, which is then automatically stamped with your GPS coordinates. Then, you can either type a note about the photo/place or use the voice recorder to capture your thoughts.

The software puts that "footprint" on a map for you. Over time, as you add more of these "footprints," you'll be able to track the places you've been on the map.

“Just as we have seen GPS technology transform how people navigate to new places, we are now seeing location-based applications like HTC Footprints changing how we interact and carry our memories,” said HTC President CEO Peter Chou in a statement.

Check out the video from HTC below to see the Touch Cruise's Footprints feature in action:

Of course, in addition to Footprints, the Touch Cruise, includes basic GPS functionality. So, for instance, cradle it in the car and the Touch Cruise automatically enters navigation mode.

The HTC Touch Cruise is expected this spring—just in time for a new season of Geo Caching.
