Yahoo Customizes Mobile Experience for BlackBerry Bold

By Amy Mayer
January 6, 2009

Yahoo Go, which just launched on the Blackberry Bold, offers a slew of widgets intended to help you customize your mobile internet experience. It may be particularly appealing if a Yahoo Mail account is one of the things you monitor, you like to see your friends' Flickr updates immediately or you have customized a My Yahoo account on your desktop.

Some of Yahoo's own widgets besides Mail and Flickr include local listings and news, both of which you customize to your interests. Branded widgets available for Yahoo Go include MySpace, MTV News and eBay.

To get started, point your mobile browser to beta.m.yahoo.com. You can then change your location and enter other personal information to start customizing your Yahoo Go experience.

The proliferation of tools intended to make your mobile internet viewing more pleasant—see Zumobi, for example—perhaps speaks to the still cumbersome nature of simply surfing with your thumbs. As more sites develop web versions, it will be interesting to see whether third-party tools like Yahoo Go have staying power.
