Verizon Wireless isn't the only carrier set to get an update to a high-end BlackBerry smartphone this fall. Also up is T-Mobile, which is expected to announce the BlackBerry Bold 2 on October 21st.

According to reports, the new smartphone won't ship until early November, however. The mobile operator is sending out invitations to corporate customers for an event where it will introduce a new BlackBerry, presumably the BlackBerry Bold 2, with Wi-Fi calling capabilities.

Code-named Onyx, the BlackBerry Bold 2 is said to look a lot like the original model in the series, but with a higher resolution display and optical trackpad instead of a trackball, which has caused RIM a bunch of headaches with the BlackBerry Tour recently. Additional supposed features include a 3.2 megapixel camera and GPS.

AT&T, the first carrier to offer the first BlackBerry Bold, should carry the new model as well.
