A little over a year ago, iambic finally brought its popular personal information manager, Agendus, to the BlackBerry platform. It released version 2.0 of this application in August of this year. Recently, the developer announced the availability of Agendus 2.01, with a new Split View, among other new features.

The Split View in version 2.01 brings in a new One Day view, which has a divider bar in the middle that separates your meetings from tasks, while maintaining them in one view. The divider bar can be collapsed up or down, should you want to show only one type of record. Some of the options for this new view include the ability to compress the meetings area to only show scheduled events and show/hide the time bars.

In addition to the new view, 2.01 adds the following:

  •
  • A "Send Using" drop down to meeting edit dialogs to allow defining which calendar (email) account to use
  •
  • Memos to the available records to be searched in Power Search Local
  •
  • Improved the retrieval time to update the weather
  •
  • The option to scroll dates horizontally vs. vertically in the Agenda View
  •
  • The option to show Tasks below timed meetings in the Agenda View
  •
  • The ability to Compact the One Day View to only show time slots containing events
  •
  • The ability to turn off the time bars in the One Day View
  •
  • The ability to start the week on any weekday, or "Today" in the Week Views
  •
  • A "Selected Day" to the options for default due date of Tasks
  •
  • Considerable performance improvements in the Contact Expanded View
  •
  • Corrected the inability to change keyboard style on the Storm when searching in certain Views

Agendus brings together and extends the built-in Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, and (new with 2.0) Memos on RIM smartphones. Agendus also provides over-the-air services such as integrated weather forecasts, according to iambic.

Originally available for the Palm OS as Action Names (the software became Agendus back in 2002), iambic ported the Agenus to Windows Mobile in 2007. This year iambic delivered an edition for the iPhone.

Agendus for BlackBerry 2.0 added a Today View, a number of improved Task and Calendar related views, compact and expanded Contact views and a Memo List view. Additional features included contact linking, one-tap dial/ e-mail, quick item deletion, task categories as well as colors, grouping and filtering for organization.

With 2.0, iambic aid it introduced advanced sorting in task views has completely redesigned view and preference navigators and the software's "Capture-It-Now" Dialogs.

Added capabilities for touch oriented RIM models, just the BlackBerry Storm right now, included "panning" scrollable views, "gestures" support in Calendar Views, and a touch-sensitive toolbar

The software goes for $19.95. Owners of version 1.0 can upgrade for $9.95. If you purchased the program on or after June 1st of this year, the update is free.
