Apple Approves 100K Applications for App Store

Industry tracking firm reports that AppShopper reports that Apple's approved over 100,000 applications for the iPhone App Store, which now lists over 93,334 apps, as of this moment. Actually, the number of accepted apps, not all of which have been posted yet (hence the discrepancy), is an even more remarkable 102,077 the last I checked.

Back in September, Apple said the iTunes App Store contained 85,000 apps that had been downloaded, at that time, over two billion times. No other smartphone platform comes close to offering users the number of applications Apple and its over 125,000 developer partners do for the iPhone.

Whatever you think of Apple or the iPhone, and there's still some questions about its viability for mass enterprise deployment, for example, you have to tip your hat to Cupertino for what it has achieved in only a little over two years. The whole smartphone market, especially end users, have benefitted from Apple's entry.
