Mark/Space is prepping a version of its desktop synchronization software for smartphones running on Google's Android platform, which is capable of syncing information over the Web but not locally. With Mark/Space's software, which will support Windows XP, Windows Vista or Mac OS X, this will change.

The Missing Sync for Android will be able to reliably synchronize contacts and transfer media files between an Android smartphone and a computer running on any of those three platforms, according to the company. Preview versions of application will be available for download from the Mark/Space web site next week, leading to a 1.0 release later in October.

Mark/Space will introduce more features in free updates, such as one planned for the fourth quarter of this year, which will add support for the synchronization of calendars, tasks and notes.
