Microsoft launched the latest edition of Windows Mobile, version 6.5, this week. Among the first smartphones to run on the updated platform are the AT&T Pure and AT&T Tilt 2. Original design manufacturer HTC built both of these models for the country's second largest wireless carrier.
The Pure sports a tablet shape and is already available , while the Tilt 2, a horizontal slider with a screen that tilts up to reveal a QWERTY keyboard, won't ship until later this month. Some other operators offer the Pure as the Touch Dianmond2 and the Tilt 2 as the Touch Pro2.
In addition to Windows Mobile 6.5 Pro, both smartphones have WVGA touchscreensmeasuring 3.2 inches for the Pure and 3.6 inches for the Tilt 2and a 528MHz CPU. HTC's proprietary HTC TouchFLO 3D user interface runs on top of Windows Mobile.
There's also support for AT&T's 3G network, GPS, Wi-Fi and a microSD slot.
The Pure's got a 5-megapixel camera to the Tilt 2's 3.2-megapixel type.
You can pick up the Pure now for $150 with a two-year agreement and after $50 mail-in rebate. The higher-end Tilt 2 will go for $300 with a two-year contract and after a $50 rebate when it is released later this month.
