Windows Mobile 6.5 is a more substantial upgrade than version 6.1 was, but what it brings to the table is still relatively. That's not supposed to be the case with Windows Mobile 7, which is supposed to be a major revamp of Microsoft's smartphone platform. With Windows Mobile hemorrhaging market share to the likes of Apple and Google, it looks like Redmond may offer its next mobile platform sooner than later. According to a ZDnet Taiwan report, Microsoft may deliver Windows Mobile 7 to manufacturers early next year. That way these vendors can start testing the operating system and begin to develop devices for it to run on. Unfortunately, these mobiles likely won't start shipping until the third quarter next year.
