LinkedIn to Go Native for BlackBerry

At the BlackBerry Developer Conference this week, LinkedIn VP of search and platform products Adam Nash and RIM's Software CTO David Yach showed off a LinkedIn application for BlackBerry phones.

That's great. But isn't it strange that it's taken so long for LinkedIn to develop a native BlackBerry app? After all, RIM's smartphone is the used by more of LinkedIn's demographic, business people, than another other. By contrast native Facebook and Twitter have long been available for BlackBerry.

In addition to bringing basic LinkedIn functionality to RIM's smartphones, the app will include deep integration with the native Messages, Contacts & Calendar applications on the BlackBerry platform, according to Nash. See here to learn more about LinkedIn's BlackBerry plans.

There's been no word on when the app will ship. So if you want to access LinkedIn from a BlackBerry, you’ll still have to turn its mobile site here: m.linkedin.com.
