PDAStreet.com > News > Fring VoIP, IM Now Available for Android Phones
A version of fring's VoIP and instant messaging client is now available for Google's Android platform, perhaps the fastet growing smartphone OS today.
The app lets users make free calls, live chat, contact availability status, file share and more with friends on fring and several social services including Skype, MSN, GoogleTalk, ICQ, Twitter, Yahoo! and AIM. Centralized from one integrated contact list, fringsters also make calls to regular phone lines via Skype-Out and hundreds of popular SIP services over 3G, GPRS or Wi-Fi internet connection.
Fring uses 3G mobile networks to transmit VoIP data; you use the data within their existing subscription agreement. The service can also connect over Wi-Fi at home, in the office or at the many “hot spot” cafes; these calls consume neither voice nor data air time.
In addition to Android, fring is supported on the Symbian S60, iPhone, Windows Mobile, J2ME and Linux devices. The Android version can be downloaded via fring's WAP site at m.fring.com or directly via the Android Market.
