Verizon Wireless this week became the first carrier in the U.S. to offering RIM's latest BlackBerry Bold model, the 9700. The new BlackBerry Bold looks a lot like the original model in the series, but with a higher resolution display above its QWERTY keyboard and optical trackpad instead of a trackball, which has caused RIM a bunch of headaches with the BlackBerry Tour of late. Additional features include a 3.2 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, a microsSD slot (bundled with a 2GB card), 3G, and GPS. The quad-band smartphone is smaller than the first Bold and runs on BlackBerry OS 5.0 and a powerful 624HMz CPU. It goes for $200 with a year agreement. AT&T will soon carrier the Bold 9700 as well.
