Samsung this week made an upgrade to Windows Mobile 6.5 available for its Jack smartphone.
With Microsoft latest handheld platform, Jack users gain access to the Windows Marketplace for MobileMicrosoft's answer to the Apple's App Store, RIM's BlackBerry App World and Google's Android MarketInternet Explorer Mobile 6; automatic access to over 20,000 AT&T Wi-Fi Hot Spots; Vlingo for Windows Phone, which allows users to instantly send a text or e-mail message, call a friend, search the Web, open native applications and more, all with their voice; among other enhancements. Back in May, AT&T released the Jack, the follow up to its popular BlackJack and BlackJack II handset models, also from Samsung. Like those smartphones, the Jack is a BlackBerry-style communicator with a QWERTY thumb-keyboard underneath its display.
Additional features of the Jack include 256 MB RAM, a 3.2 megapixel camera with video-capture capabilities, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g) to connect with home or office networks, and built-in aGPS for use with AT&T Navigator.
The Jack sells for a budget-minded $49.99 with a two-year contract and after rebate.
