Both smartphones shipped with and currently run on Windows Mobile 6.1. The latest edition of Windows Mobile debuted on October 6th. Unlike the upcoming Windows 7 platform, which may be delayed, Windows Mobile 6.5, while an improvement, isn't a major upgrade. It is includes a new edition of Internet Explorer, support for Microsoft's on-device app store, the Windows Marketplace for Mobile, and a more finger-friendly design to the user interface, among other enhancements. The Touch Pro2 (see picture) replaced the couple-of-year old T-Mobile Wing last summer. It runs on HTC's TouchFLO 3D interface, which is layered on top of Windows Mobile. And, like a number of previous HTC smartphones, the Touch Pro2 sports a touch screen (WVGA - 800 x 480 pixels) that slides back and tilts up to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard. Additional features include 228MB of RAM, a 528MHz CPU, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, 3.2 megapixel camera with auto focus, microSD card slot, and support for the carrier's 3G data network.T-Mobile is selling the Touch Pro2 for $349.99 with a 2-year contract. That's at the top side of the smartphone prices nowadays. See here to learn more about this smartphone. The T-Mobile Dash 3G (a version of the HTC Snap) is a Windows Mobile with a QWERTY thumb-keyboard and no touch input for its 2.4-inch QVGA display. The Dash 3G also sports a trackball for navigation and support for 3G as well as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi wireless. In fact, the Dash 3G was the T-Mobile’s first Windows Mobile 6.1 model to support its 3G network. There's also a 2.0 megapixel camera for picture and video, a microSD slot and a fast 528MHz CPU. The Dash 3G measures a relatively compact 2.5 x 4.4 x 0.5 inches and weighs in at 4.2 ounces. Its Li-Ion battery promises to deliver up to 5 hours talk and 9 days standby time on a single charge. T-Mobile targets both consumers and professionals with the Dash 3G, as it supports voice calling, messaging, personal and business e-mail, GPS for location-based services, and synchronization with Microsoft Outlook. There's also a web browser, audio player, and a video player. See here to learn more about the Dash 3G.
