Sprint makes a strong case for upgrading from your cell phone to a smartphone now with several low-priced models the carrier is now offering.

At $50-$100, some of these models are quite robust, if slightly older, and can ratchet up your mobile experience without too much investment. (Prices quoted below are after a mail-in rebate and with a 2 year contract).

Sprint's now offering:

  • Palm Centro: $50
  • Palm Treo 755p: $100
  • Palm Treo 800w: $100
  • BlackBerry 7100i: $75
  • BlackBerry Pearl 8130: $80
  • BlackBerry Curve 8330: $100
  • Samsung Ace: $100
  • Motorola Q9c: $100

Some of these are older models, others high-end devices with quirks. But regardless, they'll get you into the smartphone world. Of course, once you're in it's hard to go back and two years from now you may find yourself paying much more for an upgrade. Or not. Who knows with this economy?
