T-Mobile and Google are rolling out a software upgrade for the Android-run G1 smartphone that, according to reports, fixes several glitches and adds voice capabilities.

In a post on Google's Mobile Blog, Jeff Hamilton, a software engineer on the Android team, confirms that a software release will include support for voice searching and browsing.

You can start searching by voice with just the touch of a button. On the home screen search widget, look for the microphone button right next to the search box and the search button. Press that button, wait for the "Speak now" prompt, and then say your query. You'll soon see search results formatted for the Android browser.

With the update, you'll also be able to save attachments from MMS messages and access reminder messages for your calendar. In addition, as TheStreet.com reports, the firmware update should prevent logouts of IM sessions caused by interruptions in Wi-Fi connectivity.
