Google Betas Calendar, Contacts Syncing for Symbian/S60 Phones

Google's launched a beta of its Google Sync two-way calendar syncing solution for the Symbian/S60 platform. The point of the software is to keep your calendar and contacts synchronized whether you access the data from your smartphone or from your desktop.

So the new Symbian/S60 edition of the software allows users of these (mostly Nokia) smartphones to get Google Calendar events on your device, receive calendar alerts, synchronize contacts with Google, and have changes pushed directly to their handset.

Google Sync uses the Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync protocol. According to Google, when setting up a new Exchange ActiveSync account on your Nokia, existing Contacts and Calendar events may be removed from your phone. So be sure to back up all essential data before setting Google Sync up.

Versions of this service are already available for the iPhone and Windows Mobile.
