Media5 recently released a program that may help the iPhone (and even the iPod touch) fit better into your corporate phone network. Called Media5-Fone ($6.99, available here), the software enables iPhone and iPod touch users to connect with any SIP IP-PBX. In other words, it allows Apple mobile device users to access the same phone services and features as they would in the office, but over a broadband connection using VoIP.

According to the company, Media5-Fone is the latest component of its Media5Boss suite of solutions for service providers and corporate offices. It is based on the Media5's M5T SIP Client Mobility SDK.

Here are some Media5-Fone features:

  • Pure SIP standard softphone
  • Voice Mail Integration
  • Loudspeaker
  • VoIP over Wi-Fi
  • Native Contacts List
  • Hold
  • Easy Configuration
  • Call History
  • Mute

Media5 added this first version of Media5-Fone is a first step towards offering a more full-featured and secure enterprise edition that will embed strong voice encryption among other features.
