The Kindle is great tool for reading and learning, as it puts thousands of books, newspapers magazines, text books and more at your fingertips. It is now also a great tool for musicians, professional and amateur alike. That's because FreeHand Systems has brought its Novato Music Press catalog to Amazon's eBook reader.
The Novato Music Press catalog consists of 20,046 titles by 1,350 composers with works for a wide variety of instruments and ensembles, including solo, chamber, opera and orchestra scores. All scores consist of modern engravings rather than reprints.
Major composers such as J. S. Bach (1,500 titles), Mozart (1,600 titles) and Beethoven (650 titles) are well-represented, but the collection also contains traditional songs and works from popular songwriters like Stephen Foster and George M. Cohan, along with rare, but important works by minor composers, including "Six Songs from A Shropshire Lad," by George Butterworth, and Scott Joplin's Treemonisha Vocal Score, according FreeHand Systems. "This is a wonderful boon to musicians who want instant access to a vast library of in-demand sheet music," said FreeHand Systems CEO Kim Lorz in a statement. "In addition to the convenient and comprehensive content selection that we offer, musicians never have to fumble through paper scores or worry about forgetting a piece of music. Everything is wirelessly downloaded and stored in the Kindle and is available for easy recall." In addition to its new Kindle offering, the sheet music publisher sells a stand-alone digital sheet music tablet, the MusicPad Pro Plus. And its site consists of more than 130,000 titles in all msuic genres: from classical to jazz, pop and country to world music and beyond. FreeHand Systems goal is to make all of the site's content available for download to the Kindle.
