Contrary to prevailing opinion, smartphones aren't all just about touch screens nowadays. The most obvious example is the BlackBerry, of course. You can also find higher-end handsets without touch input running on a number of other platforms.

Take the new T-Mobile Dash 3G (a version of the HTC Snap), for example. The Dash 3G is the carrier's latest Windows Mobile with a QWERTY thumb-keyboard and no touch input for its 2.4-inch QVGA display.

The Dash 3G also sports a trackball for navigation and support for 3G as well as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi wireless. In fact, Dash 3G is the T-Mobile’s first Windows Mobile 6.1 model to support its 3G network.

At the end of last year, T-Mobile USA's 3G network was available to more than 100 million people in over 130 U.S. cities. It expects that number to grow to 200 million by the end of 2009.

There's also a 2.0 megapixel camera for picture and video, a microSD slot and a fast 528MHz CPU.

The Dash 3G measures a relatively compact 2.5 x 4.4 x 0.5 inches and weighs in at 4.2 ounces. Its Li-Ion battery promises to deliver up to 5 hours talk and 9 days standby time on a single charge.

T-Mobile is targeting both consumers and professionals with the Dash 3G, as it supports voice calling, messaging, personal and business e-mail, GPS for location-based services, and synchronization with Microsoft Outlook. There's also a web browser, audio player, and a video player.

You can pick up the Dash 3G for $169.99 with a two year contact after a $180 instant discount. See here to learn more about the Dash 3G.
