Turns out contact management is an important issue faced by BlackBerry users—the majority of which still fall into the professional class of mobile-device users. Gwabbit, from developer Technicopia, is a automatic email contact management and capture solution that has been the most popular paid application in the BlackBerry App World's "Professional and Business" category for past couple of months.

For those of you who haven't heard of Gwabbit, what it does is pretty simple and yet a real timesaver. What the utility does is automatically search and identify contacts—such as signatures—embedded in emails on your BlackBerry, then adds or updates that information to your BlackBerry Contacts, in a single click. A companion product for Outlook does the very same thing with Microsoft Outlook emails.

So, in essence, Gwabbit automates a process that would otherwise require a lot of manual cut and pasting on the part of the mobile and desktop users.

Pricing of Gwabbit for BlackBerry is based on a subscription model. It goes for $9.99 annually. You can pick up the Outlook edition for a one-time charge of $19.95. You can catch flash demos of both the BlackBerry and Outlook versions of Gwabbit in action here.
