A few months ago, DataViz shipped Documents To Go, its Microsoft Office-compatible application suite, for Google's Android platform. The software, long available for other types of smartphone, allowed users to view, edit and create Microsoft Word and Excel files. Today, the developer updated Documents To Go for 'gPhones' like the T-Mobile G1 and myTouch 3G to version 2.0.
The update includes a number enhancement. Most importantly adds a new Slideshow To Go component, which allows for the viewing, editing and creating of PowerPoint presentations. Slideshow To Go supports the latest PowerPoint file formats, including those found in Microsoft Office 2007.
It also gains PDF To Go, which provides Documents To Go with the ability to view of Adobe PDF files. PDF To Go includes page view, word wrap, multiple zoom levels, auto-rotate, bookmarks, search, select and copy text. It also supports password-protected files.
Documents To Go 1.0 supported the viewing and editing of Microsoft Word (.doc, .docx) and Microsoft Excel (.xls, xlsx) files. Version 2.0 extends the feature set by adding find and replace, word count, number formatting, sheet formatting, contextual menus, improved selection modes and scrolling, optimizations for touch, and a 'Live Folder' for instant access to recently used documents.
A non-expiring, free version of Documents To Go 2.0 provides all Android-based device users with the ability to view Microsoft Word and Excel files and attachments.
Those using this edition can unlock the complete feature set described above by purchasing a Full Version Key for $29.99. Documents To Go version 1.0 owners will receive the Full Version Key at no charge.
Documents To Go 2.0 is available only through the Android Market. It comes in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish-languge editions.
