As expected, T-Mobile this week started shipping the HTC Touch Pro2. The new smartphone replaces the couple-of-year old T-Mobile Wing.
The Touch Pro2 runs on HTC's TouchFLO 3D interface, which is layered on top of Windows Mobile 6.1. All though it hasn't been confirmed, you should be able to upgrade this device Windows Mobile 6.5 at some point after Microsoft's platform upgrade becomes available this fall.
Like a number of previous HTC smartphones, the Touch Pro2 will sport a touch screen (WVGA - 800 x 480 pixels) that slides back and tilts up to reveal a full QWERTY keyboard.
Additional features include 228MB of RAM, a 528MHz CPU, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, 3.2 megapixel camera with auto focus, microSD card slot, and support for the carrier's 3G data network.
T-Mobile is selling the Touch Pro2 for $349.99 with a 2-year contract. That's at the top side of the smartphone prices nowadays.
Rumor has it the country's other major carriers—Sprint, Verizon and AT&T—will pick up versions of these smartphone as well. Supposedly, AT&T will call the Touch Pro2 the Tilt2
