Video Shows Next-Gen BlackBerry Storm in Action

By James Alan Miller
August 17, 2009

Although it is well known that RIM's is developing a follow up to the BlackBerry Storm, the mob-e-mail and smartphone leader's first touch screen model, not much is known what features and improvements the BlackBerry Storm 2 will offer. Recently, a video (see below) showing off this device leaked.

The video gives a pretty good overview of the BlackBerry Storm 2, which looks a lot like the first version. Fortunately, enhancements include the addition of Wi-Fi and an upgrade to BlackBerry OS 5.x.

Rumor has it Verizon, which sells the BlackBerry Storm in the U.S., will start offering it in this country come November. It is expected Vodafone will deliver the device elsewhere. Like its predecessor, the Verizon version should support the carrier’s CDMA/EV-DO network in the U.S. and include a second, GSM, radio for use when abroad.
