Bell Mobility today became the second North American carrier, after Sprint, to launch Palm's Pre smartphone, the first to run on the PDA pioneer's follow up to the Palm platform, called the web OS. It is he first operator to do so in Canada, of course.

The smartphone's been available in the U.S. since May. You can get your hands on a Pre in Canada for $200 CAD with a (rather lengthy) three-year agreement and minimum 500MB data plan.

During a conference call last week, Verizon execs revealed that it would start offering the Pre early next year. Sprint’s exclusivity agreement with Palm for the Pre in the U.S. ends at the close of 2009
